The Tintin Collection - Set of 22 Titles


Tintin was a comic character created by George Prosper Remi a.k.a as Herge (pen name). He personally illustrated and wrote the stories of Tintin and his adventures. The character of Tintin was inspired by George’s brother, who was a part of the Belgian Army. The comic strip first came about in January 1929 and featured the reporter Tintin and his pet terrier Snowy as they journeyed through Soviet Union.

The series touched upon a series of issues involving Cold-war, China, Nazi-Germany. Many of his worked suffered from the consequences of censorship and were not available in many of the countries. His last work was the 24th in the series involving Tintin and was titled Tintin and Alph-Art. Even though unfinished, it was released as a series of sketches and notes in 1986 and eventually in 1988, the Tintin series was discontinued. Herge died aged 75 due to leukemia and a form of porphyria. Perhaps, it is stated that he contracted HIV also, due to his regular blood transfusions for treating leukemia.
