Chetan Bhagat books online

Call me a nationalist or whatever you will but I take pride when people around me respect anything Made in India, be it a phone, fridge, movie or even a book for that matter. My love for Chetan Bhagat books probably stems from this belief alone. Usually, whenever a book comes out, especially that of an India author I make a point to read it. Same happened Five Point Someone came out. It was undoubtedly a  youthful book.
I was pretty confident that it's going to go mainstream within a flash. But what I hadn't expected was the success his subsequent books saw. All of them were good in different ways but seriously Chetan Bhagat managed 6 consecutive bestsellers! So much so that most online stores now make sure to stock his books whether or not they have a copy of Discovery of India. Being an ardent admirer I have finally decided to finally buy Chetan Bhagat books online. Not one, not three but all five. There may some free copies strewn around the internet but I believe in the original, on principal. ;)
Once again, if you missed the link, here is the link to buy Chetan Bhagat books online.

Nokia Asha 300 review

Nokia Asha 300 is a step up from Nokia Asha 200 and 201. With a 1 Ghz processor, Nokia Asha 300 makes for a speedy browsing and the 2.4" screen is a welcome transition for those who are new to the world of smartphones.

Nokia Asha 300 mobile comes with an adapter, microSD card support, headset and an instruction manual.

Since Nokia Asha mobile is aimed for the more lower segment, many features have been included with just enough missing to prevent it from qualifying as an expensive phone. It has a 5 MP camera which takes 1944 x 2592 pixels photos but does not have a flash LED. So, clicking pictures in the dark could be a problem. The screen is a touchscreen but resistive in place of capacitive. Though this one's wouldn't bother you so much as the resistive is responsive enough.

The keyboard is a standard numeric keypad, so probably okay for those who have been using those for long.
One spec that caught attention is the fact that Nokia Asha 300 mobile houses a 1 Ghz processor, which is quite a deal for around Rs. 6000. One would imagine the company compensated for the low cost elsewhere but it's difficult to pinpoint. The phone does not sacrifice quality anywhere.

Nokia Lumia 800 and 710

It's been no secret that Nokia has been struggling off late to revive itself and has quite a bit at stake with its latest release, the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 phones running Windows 7.5.
Before I jump full on into the review, let me remind you of Nokia Lumia 800's specs:
  • It's running Windows 7.5 a.k.a Mango
  • Dimensions are: 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1 mm
  • Weight is 142 g, which is enough to know its there but not too much to become a burden to carry around
  • Screen is 3.7'' AMOLED ClearBlack Touch Screen with a resolution for 480x800
  • Battery gives a sturdy talk time of 13 hours with 265 hours of standby through 1450 mAh power (Windows 7 uses battery power very judiciously. You'll face no problem getting through a full day).
  • The phones is running on a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm processor, augmented by 512 MB RAM, 16 GB of external storage (which is not expandable)
  • Has an 8MP camera with dual LED flash capable of shooting 720p videos at 30 fps

Design
Nokia's build quality is absolutely outstanding. Some would go out on a limb to call it legendary even. Adhering to it's standards, the Nokia Lumia 800 mobile has been bestowed with a curved glass display.
Another feature which I find missing in some high-end phones today is the presence of a physical camera button, since tapping a touchscreen for a photo almost always tends to blur the photo.
The look and feel of the device is quite satisfying for its price.
However there are some design quirks on Nokia Lumia 800 mobile. The top edge of the phone features a 3.5 mm audio jack, a USB charging port and the external card port. While it's good that the ports is featured externally, the flaps used to cover these ports look like they'll soon succumb to repeated usage.

OS
Windows 7.5 has a lot of cool features. The tiled UI lets your access your favourite apps quickly and also allows multi-tasking. The OS' most useful feature is tomb-stoning, which essentially takes you back to the exact spot in an app etc, that you were in before closing the screen.

Camera
The camera is HD recording enabled and gives resolution of up to 2448 x 3264 pixels

Overall, it's more than a fair deal for its price. An intuitive OS combined with excellent build, Nokia Lumia 800 is definitely here  to stay.
